In the middle of the night, Apple quietly updated its MacBook laptop selection to feature new models with Intel's Santa Rosa architecture, somewhat improved speeds and GMA X3100 integrated video systems.

The specs for the new units are as follows:
White 13.3" MacBook:
-2.0 GHz/1 GB of RAM/80 GB hard drive/Combo/GMA X3100 for US$1099.00
-2.2 GHz/1 GB of RAM/120 GB hard drive /Dual Layer SuperDrive/GMA X3100 for US$1,299.00

Black 13.3" MacBook:
-2.2 GHz/1 GB of RAM/160 GB hard drive/Dual Layer SuperDrive/GMA X3100 for US$1,499.00

According to MacRumors, the new laptops boast a faster 800 MHz front side bus over previous models while the GMA X3100 card allows for improved video, especially in a consolidated chipset. Other changes include a raised RAM capacity that jumped from two gigabytes to four gigabytes and 144 MB of graphics allocation to the new Intel GMA X3100 card - up from 64 MB found in Intel's GMA 950 graphics chipset that had been incorporated in the previous MacBook line.

The company is also offering a 2.6 GHz MacBook Pro featuring a 250 gigabyte hard drive.
